Wang Yongqing, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey team to review the aging population of and the pension insurance system in Central China's Hubei province, from June 27 to 30, and in Southwest China's Guizhou province, from July 4 to 7.
At a symposium after the survey tour, Wang recognized the two provinces' efforts to address their aging populations and prioritize the implementation of the pension insurance system, saying that the livelihoods of elderly people have been improved and the system's coverage expanded in the two regions.
He urged a people-oriented principle in addressing the pension issue for all workers, as well as rural and urban residents, and called on all parties involved to suggest tailored policies and better implement the pension insurance system.
During the survey in Hubei's Wuhan and Xiangyang and Guizhou's Guiyang and Zunyi, the survey team members talked with local residents, employees, workers in flexible employment, and retired individuals.
They also held a meeting with State-owned and private enterprises, insurance companies, nursing institutions and governmental departments, and got more information from them through questionnaires.
