Cheng Hong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, and vice-chairwoman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, shared her understanding of the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics — bearing in mind the big picture, being confident and open, rising to the challenges, pursuing excellence, and creating a better future together.

Cheng, also head of the athlete village in Yanqing district, Beijing, said the supporting staff adhered to the athlete-centered approach and offered "efficient, quality, and warm" services to sports delegations from all over the world.

The supporting teams of the village, including volunteers, regarded the Beijing 2022 as one of the top priorities of the country and saw it as an honor to make contributions to the country. They had the courage to shoulder responsibilities.

She said that the organizing committee of Beijing 2022 also took the grand sport event as an opportunity to showcase the country's achievements in human rights and the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

Against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic that was raging across the world, the staff strictly implemented epidemic prevention and control measures. No cluster of infections or spillover cases occurred and the dynamic zero-COVID policy was maintained during the Games. China's COVID response policy has once again withstood the test, contributing useful experience for the world to fight against the virus and host major international events.

Within four years the builders have overcame all difficulties to build world-class competition zones and facilities with green energy supply in an area with no water, electricity, roads and signals in the past, and the supporting teams braved unfavorable weather and raced against time to ensure supplies of the Games.

She also spoke highly of the excellent services that impressed the athletes a lot and the exchange activities and meetings that helped attendees better understand a community with a shared future for mankind, as well as the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic motto "Together for a Shared Future".
