The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee sent a team to research the implementation of measures designed to stabilize foreign investment and trade in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from June 29 to July 1.
Led by Lou Jiwei, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the team conducted field studies in local companies and held a symposium to exchange ideas with officials of related governmental departments and business leaders.
The team heard suggestions on ensuring the stable development of foreign investment and trade, such as improving investment promotion measures, making full use of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, and enhancing policy and talent support.
Stressing that endeavors on both fronts are vital to China's overall economic growth and employment, the team said Chongqing should give full play to its advantageous location, attract more foreign investment into advanced manufacturing, modern services, and high-tech fields, and pursue the employment-first policy with full force.
