A survey team of the Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited Southwest China's Yunnan province and South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from June 23 to 29, to learn about and supervise the progress in implementing a key proposal on establishing national karst parks.

At the meeting with local governments and departments, the team, led by Ma Biao, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, agreed that Yunnan and Guangxi have gained effective experience in and further built a consensus on the establishment of national karst parks.

Ma pointed out that setting up national karst parks would help to fill the country's blank in this field, adding that the move would help improve the quality and stability of the ecosystem in karst areas, while realizing a win-win result in both ecological construction and socioeconomic development.

During their stay in Guangxi, the team also had consultation on supporting Guangxi's Guilin in its efforts to build itself into a world-class tourism city.
