Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called for efforts to promote the healthy development of private enterprises at the 7th World Fujian-origin Entrepreneurs Conference in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province, on June 18.
Gao, also chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), said the central leadership's support for private enterprises has never changed, adding that China will accelerate the pace of reform and opening-up so no one should listen to or believe any words or actions that deny, doubt or distort China's basic economic system.
Stressing that China's economy is making steady progress amid implementation of macro policies and COVID-19 relief measures, Gao urged the business community hailing from the coastal province to strengthen their confidence, seize opportunities, and speed up growth.
Efforts are needed for enterprises to sharpen their competitive edge, enhance their corporate management, and forge ahead with innovative and trailblazing measures, Gao stressed.
The ACFIC will play an active role in promoting the high-quality development of the private sector and advancing Fujian's economic and social development in the new era, according to Gao.
The conference was held concurrently with the 20th China Straits Innovation Project Fair and the province's 12th industrial project exchange for private enterprises. During the conference, Gao also met with representatives of Fujian businesses, visited several private companies and conducted research in Shaxian district of Sanming city.
