The Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) held a video meeting on June 14 to promote democratic supervision over the ecological protection of the Yangtze River by East China's Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu province.
In the meeting that also served as a training session, Chen Zhu, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee, called for efforts to strengthen the work of democratic supervision with better organization, smooth inter-departmental coordination, resource sharing and science-based approaches.
He Wei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the CPWDP Central Committee, said it's important to do deep research, fully consider regional specific conditions, and improve action plans in order to successfully complete the democratic supervision over the Yangtze River protection.
