Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended a video meeting on the annual key research topic of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL) on May 27.
The seminar was convened at two main venues in Beijing and South China's Guangdong province, as well as 18 parallel sites across the country by video link.
As a feature of the Chinese political party system, the CPC Central Committee entrusts central committees of non-CPC political parties to conduct targeted research on major issues of economic and social development. The TDSL Central Committee's research this year focuses on boosting cultural endeavors and driving economic development at the county level for the goal of common prosperity, with studies mainly conducted in Guangdong.
Noting the role of culture in promoting common prosperity, Su, also chairwoman of the TDSL Central Committee, called for efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, promote the recovery of the cultural industry, and help address various difficulties.
The TDSL Central Committee shall further summarize experiences and provide policy recommendations that both meet national needs and also reflect regional considerations, she said.
At the meeting, Wang Xi, vice-governor of Guangdong, introduced the reform initiatives and achievements in building the province into a powerhouse of culture.
