This year's Kaiming Culture Forum opened online with a theme of urban culture and cultural cities on May 10.

The forum, which was initiated by the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) in 2019, was held in Beijing, the main venue, and Yangzhou, East China’s Jiangsu province, as a sub venue.

In his speech at the forum's opening, Cai Dafeng, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, spoke highly of the forum's role in strengthening the association's contacts with various parties including the cultural circle and contributing to the nation’s cultural causes.

Urban culture boasts rich and systematic content and plays a subtle but comprehensive role, he said, stressing joint efforts from all walks of life, inheritance and innovation, as well as improved planning and efficiency for urban cultural development.

The CAPD will join hands with the cultural circle to implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, better fulfill its duties as a political party that participates in  State affairs, and give full play to the role of its members from the cultural circle, Cai added.

Liu Xincheng, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, also attended the opening of the forum.
