He Wei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), urged more efforts to build a new pattern of national spatial development at a video meeting on April 27.
In his speech, He pointed out that the bottom line for the development and protection of territorial space should be clearly defined and highlighted the economical and intensive use of resources.
He stressed that it's necessary to respect objective law, give full play to comparative advantages of different regions, promote coordinated development based on their respective positioning strategies, and solve regional differentiation such as expansion and contraction according to their characteristics.
He called for developing a green and low-carbon high-quality growth pattern under the guidance of China's overall plan of promoting coordinated progress in economic, political, cultural, social and ecological areas and other major national strategies
The strength of the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics should be given full play, he said, adding that the people-centered principle should be insisted to improve the function of China's territorial space and enable the people to benefit from development.
