Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey on national defense education in East China's Fujian province from April 25 to 28.

The survey team also supervised the handling of a key proposal on promoting the high-quality development of national defense education

Zhang pointed out that national defense is vital to a country's survival and development, and education is a fundamental project for building and consolidating national defense, which is important to the nation's prosperity and rejuvenation.

It's necessary to raise political stances, absorb wisdom and strength from the Party's history, fully understand the importance and urgency of strengthening national defense education, and promote it as a long-term task, Zhang noted.

He highlighted the principle of mass participation, long-term adherence and practical results in building a pattern of national defense education that is led by the Party committees and governments, bolstered with the coordination between the military and local departments, supported by all sectors of society, and participated in by the people.

During the survey tour, the team learned about the development of national defense education in the cities of Longyan and Fuzhou by visiting schools, enterprises, museums and national defense education bases.
