A national delegation of personages without party affiliation led by Chen Xu, deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, conducted research on accelerating high-quality development and promoting common prosperity in Beijing on April 25.

In a meeting held during the trip, Justin Yifu Lin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and the dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, said efforts will be made to carefully summarize Beijing's experience, carry out studies, and contribute to the scientific and democratic decision-making process of the CPC Central Committee.

Cui Shuqiang, executive vice-mayor of Beijing, introduced the city's measures to implement a new development philosophy and advance a five-pronged development strategy. He outlined initiatives to improve the city's governance, safeguard people's livelihoods, fight against pollution, and continue to respond swiftly to public complaints.

The delegation also heard reports by the municipal government departments on efforts to promote common prosperity. The meeting will be followed by a three-day field study.

Such research by prominent individuals without party affiliation from across the country is an important way of holding collective discussions of State affairs and making suggestions, which contributes to the performance of the CPPCC's duties.
