Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited the State Grid Corporation of China on April 19 amid efforts to promote high-quality development of the new energy industry and formation of a new power system, which is a key research topic of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC).
Gao, also chairman of the ACFIC, visited an exhibition of State Grid's achievements and the State power dispatching and control center, and hailed the company's critical role as a stabilizer and ballast stone in ensuring energy security.
Gao called for the State-owned utility company to be a main player in the low-carbon energy transition and make a greater contribution to the realization of China's double carbon goals.
He said the State Grid should be the trailblazer of energy development innovation, promote coordinated growth of private enterprises in the upstream and downstream industries, and strengthen cooperation with private enterprises in new energy generation, energy storage, micro-grid construction, green power use and trading, and other fields.
Gao also urged the State Grid to serve as a think tank for the top-level design of energy reform and provide intellectual support for the construction of a modern energy system.
