The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) convened a meeting on April 7 on promoting the coordinated economic development of China's northern and southern regions and building a development pattern that is favorable for common prosperity.

Wan Exiang, chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, and Zheng Jianbang, executive vice-chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, attended the meeting together with officials and experts from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the Development Research Center of the State Council. The attendees discussed good practices, existing problems and solutions concerning coordinated regional development and common prosperity.

Wan, also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said the meeting offered valuable suggestions for the RCCK Central Committee to research the topic this year. He stressed the strategic importance of development coordination to China's economic growth, national security, and the goal of common prosperity.

Wan also said it's important to take into consideration the increasingly complex international environment, accommodate the domestic needs of establishing a new development paradigm, give full play to the respective strengths of the southern and the northern areas, and narrow the regional gap in pursuing high-quality development.

In his speech, Zheng, also vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, said he hopes regions can seize initiatives for development, optimize their business environment, strengthen the market-based system, and improve public services to move towards coordinated development.
