A team led by Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, surveyed efforts to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the digital economy in Beijing on April 7.

The team from the Committee on Economic Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee held an in-depth exchange of views and suggestions with officials from the Beijing municipal government and relevant departments.

The topics discussed included the promotion of Chang'an Chain, an open-source enterprise blockchain, the value of data as a production factor and data market, and setting API standards for the development of the Internet of vehicles (IoV).

Members of the team acknowledged the capital city's progress in developing its digital economy, as well as the good practices it has accumulated in recent years. Beijing won the top spot among China's first-tier cities in terms of digital economy development last year, according to a ranking.

They also called for efforts to promote sci-tech self-reliance and innovation, advance the integration of digital technologies with the real economy, improve the governance system of the digital economy, and optimize the business environment to stimulate vitality of market players.

According to the research plan, the team will also conduct field studies at the Beijing International Big Data Exchange, the Beijing high-level automated driving demonstration area and several enterprises.
