The Committee on Economic Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee continued its survey on promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the digital economy via video link on April 2.
Members of the CPPCC National Committee's survey team held in-depth exchanges with representatives from the Zhejiang provincial government, as well as relevant departments and enterprises.
Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), acknowledged the coastal province's progress in vigorously advancing technological innovation, commercialization of digital technology, and digital transformation of industries.
Noting that self-reliance in science and technology is the core of the digital economy, Gao called for greater efforts to build an institutional system favorable to the creation of new technologies and new models, as well as deepen integration between digital technology and the real economy.
It's important to accelerate the formation of a collaborative innovation mechanism that features leading enterprises as the main drivers of innovation, cross-disciplinary and cross-industry integration, complementary advantages in different regions, and in-depth industry-university-research institute collaboration, according to Gao.
He also said it is imperative to improve the governance system for the digital economy, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and give full play to the decisive role of the market in resource allocation.
As the development of the digital economy is in line with the goal of common prosperity, it's necessary to accommodate the interests of the State, enterprises, society and individuals so as to safeguard national sovereignty and cybersecurity, promote the sector's innovation, competition and rise, and also ensure social fairness and justice, he added.
The online meeting was part of preparations for a thematic consultative seminar by the CPPCC National Committee that is scheduled for May.
