A special committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a press briefing on Feb 16 to introduce its major work related to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese.

The Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee introduced progress in studying and implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the plenary sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee. Achievements were made in building a broad consensus, enhancing the effectiveness of consultation, and boosting solidarity and friendship, according to the briefing.

Zhu Xiaodan, chairperson of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese, introduced the innovative measures and performances of CPPCC members in fulfilling their duties.

Vice-chairpersons of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese, including Geng Huichang, Qiu Yuanping, Wu Guohua, Huang Lanfa and Kang Xiaoping, answered reporters' questions. They outlined efforts related to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the strengthening of patriotic education for young people in Hong Kong and Macao, and promoting cross-Straits economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.
