Bater meets virtually with vice-president of Uruguayan senate

Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), had a video conference with Da Silva, vice-president of the Chamber of Senators of Uruguay, on Nov 18. 

Bater said Uruguay is an important partner of China in Latin America and the two countries trust and treat each other as equals. He added that since the COVID-19 outbreak, leaders of the two countries have reached an important consensus on deepening bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation. 

Bater noted China is willing to work with Uruguay to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and bring the sustainable development of the China-Uruguay strategic partnership and China-Latin America cooperation to a new level. 

The CPPCC National Committee is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Chamber of Senators of Uruguay and enhance public support for a friendly bilateral relationship, according to Bater, who also briefed the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the CPPCC at the meeting. 

Da Silva said Uruguay looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China, participating in Belt and Road construction, and supporting overall cooperation between China and Latin America.
