Ma Biao, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), addressed the 2021 Global Mayors' Forum via video link on Nov 11. The forum was held in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province.

Noting that the China-proposed Global Development Initiative is a blueprint for global solidarity and common development, Ma said  China is willing to support cities around the world to play a leading role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the global development, cooperation, and  governance.

He also called on the cities to make greater contributions to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
