Wang Yang calls for pooling wisdom, strength for national reunification

BEIJING -- Wang Yang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has called for efforts to pool wisdom and strength from all Chinese people, both at home and abroad, to advance national reunification. 

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks on Friday at a conference honoring role models in work concerning Taiwan affairs. 

On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Wang extended congratulations to the honoree individuals and groups, and called on them to make further achievements. 

Noting that resolving the Taiwan question and realizing China's complete reunification is a historic mission and an unshakable commitment of the CPC, Wang said the work on Taiwan affairs must be carried out within the broader context of the national rejuvenation strategy.

He called on relevant personnel to concretely implement the CPC Central Committee's principles and policies in this regard, to advance the high-quality development of Taiwan-related work in the new era, and to effectively respond to challenges and withstand risks. 

He also stressed the importance of the overall Party leadership in work related to Taiwan affairs.
