A delegation led by Edmund Ho Hau Wah, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Northwest China's Gansu province as part of efforts to deepen cultural and tourism cooperation between Macao and Gansu.
The delegation of CPPCC National Committee members from Macao spent five days visiting Gansu's cities of Dunhuang, Zhangye and Lanzhou, after arriving in the province on Sept 23.
In a meeting on Sept 24, Edmund Ho said Gansu and Macao have boosted cooperation on many fronts in recent years, such as the study of traditional culture among youth and international exchanges, but there's still room for greater cooperation in other fields, including traditional Chinese medicine, science and technology, and talent training.
He called for more efforts by CPPCC National Committee members to elevate cooperation between Macao and Gansu, especially in the development of the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin of Zhuhai, Guangdong.
He said he hopes more Macao youths can take diverse study tours or exchanges in Gansu as opportunities to appreciate Chinese culture, have a deeper understanding of the country's history and development, and raise awareness of patriotism.
