Wang Yang attends closing gala of ethnic minority art festival

BEIJING -- Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, on Friday evening attended a closing gala of the sixth ethnic minority art festival. 

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presented awards to the group and individual winners of the festival's competition. 

Focusing on the theme of celebrating the centenary of the CPC and strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation, the performances told stories on a wide range of topics. These included ethnic unity, poverty alleviation, green development, and support to ethnic minority regions. 

During the month-long festival, 42 performances were staged and streamed online, attracting more than 13 million viewers.
