During a visit to Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from Sept 5 to 9, a team led by Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), inspected efforts to implement the spirit of the recent central conference on ethnic affairs, as well as to strengthen grassland ecological conservation.

Bater presided over a meeting to study the key messages of the conference and also held in-depth talks with religious and ethnic members of the CPPCC National Committee. He also paid visits to residential communities, towns, industrial parks and memorial halls in Yining and Aksu.

Bater said work on ethnic affairs should uphold the CPC's leadership and consolidate the sense of community for the Chinese nation. Strengthening grassland ecological conservation is not only an important decision of the central conference on ethnic affairs but also a key endeavor for the CPPCC National Committee in recent years, according to Bater.

The team made inquiries in detail about the preservation and management of the grassland ecosystem during their visit to Bortala Mongolian and Ili Kazak autonomous prefectures, as well as Aksu.

Bater noted the CPPCC National Committee should actively conduct researches on key issues, such as grassland ecological restoration, improvement of relevant laws, regulations and policies, and prevention and control of disasters, and help build broad consensus in promoting the conservation initiative and contributing to China's national rejuvenation.
