Li Bin, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has called for more efforts to protect the ecosystem of the Qinling Mountains and promote high-quality growth in their surrounding areas.
Li made the remarks when leading a survey of the ecological protection and high-quality development of Qinling Mountains and their surrounding areas in Northwest China’s Shaanxi province from Sept 5 to 7.
At a meeting in Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi, on Sept 7, Li pointed out the existing problems concerning Qinling’s protection after listening to reports from the CPPCC committees of Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Qinghai provinces and Chongqing municipality via video link.
She stressed the importance of the ecological protection of Qinling and urged coordinating the areas’ high-quality growth with ecological protection.
Li also called for pooling resources to realize the areas’ green development in line with a vision of innovation-based, coordinated, green, open and shared development.
The team visited a national nature reserve, local villages, a modern agricultural park, a national botanical garden and enterprises during their survey.
