Li Bin, vice-chairwoman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the first plenary meeting of the ad-hoc compilation committee for a series of books featuring CPPCC members’ personal experience regarding CPPCC history on Aug 20.

The books will be a collection of personal accounts by CPPCC members who have been witnesses to the CPPCC’s history in the sense of having experienced, seen or heard an event of historical importance.

Li, also director of the compilation committee, said the project will strengthen the preservation and use of the CPPCC’s precious historical records and also carry on the fine traditions of the CPPCC in the new era.

In holding on to the correct political stance, the work should highlight the roles of such books in preserving history, advising on State affairs, promoting unity and supporting the education of people, as well as pursue high quality and proceed in a well-organized manner to cover different topics, Li said.

At the meeting, she also called for a sophisticated workflow, a rigorous editorial review process, and smooth coordination among different sides in compiling the books.
