Hainan province and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) should further their publicity efforts, promote exchanges between their investors and entrepreneurs, and strive for even greater outcomes from their cooperation, said Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), during an inspection tour in South China's Hainan from Aug 9 to 10.

Leung, former chief executive of the Hong Kong SAR, spoke highly of Hainan's economic growth, pointing out that Hong Kong enterprises have high hopes for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and expect even greater cooperation with Hainan at next year's China International Consumer Products Expo.

On Aug 10, Leung gave a lecture on the function and role of Hong Kong in a new era in Haikou, capital of Hainan.
