Li Bin, vice-chairwoman and secretary-general of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, led a team to carry out democratic and supervisory survey of black soil protection in Northeast China's Jilin province from July 13 to 16.
At a symposium held in the provincial capital of Changchun on July 13, Li spoke highly of the efforts and achievements made by Jilin to protect black soil, especially its effective protection and utilization mode in recent years.
Li stressed that the survey team should study the problems concerning the protection of black soil, and seek solutions to better ensure national food security.
The team should address key issues in black soil protection including improving laws and regulations, improving policy coordination, enhancing scientific and technological support, and developing compensation mechanism, Li said.
She also urged the team to explore and promote protective farming according to local conditions, promote the construction of high-standard farmland, and take multiple measures to improve the quality of arable land.
In addition, Li called for efforts to raise the public awareness, offer more scientific and technological training, and mobilize people from all walks of life, so as to create a path of black soil protection in line with China's current situation.
