Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the launch ceremony of a rural vitalization initiative in Weifang, East China's Shandong province, on July 16 and delivered a speech.
The nationwide initiative, "Ten Thousand Companies Make Ten Thousand Villages Prosperous", was jointly inaugurated by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Administration for Rural Vitalization, the China Glory Society, the Agricultural Development Bank of China, and the Agricultural Bank of China.
Gao, also chairman of the ACFIC, hailed the initiative as an important decision based on the actual development of China's agriculture and rural areas and the unique roles that private enterprises can play. He said robust efforts at all levels are needed to galvanize the initiative and make it a key driver of the country's new development paradigm.
In promoting the program, Gao said, it's important to adopt approaches that combine top-level design with innovative implementation at the grassroots level, align the consolidation of poverty alleviation outcomes with rural vitalization, respect market rules and abide by the three "red lines" - ecological protection, permanently protected farmland, and urbanization development boundaries. Agricultural and rural reforms must be promoted while ensuring the high-quality development of enterprises.
