A symposium on the proposal work of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) local committees was held in Yinchuan, capital of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on July 17 and 18.

At the meeting, Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, emphasized the need to stick to the Party's overall leadership and the people-centered principle in handling the proposal work in the new era.

Zhang called on CPPCC members to insist on serving the central tasks and overall interests of the country, and on carrying out full-process consultations so as to let the proposals play a bigger and more distinctive role in the CPPCC functions.

CPPCC committees at all levels should continue to improve the quality of their proposals, offer advice and suggestions on State affairs, build consensuses, sharpen their skills of investigation and research, and pool their efforts to serve the historical mission of the Communist Party of China, Zhang added.
