Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a team to examine the construction of national park clusters and the ecological protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Northwest China's Qinghai province between July 2 and 4.
During the trip, Zheng, also executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, held a symposium in Xining, Qinghai's capital city, to discuss the issues. He stressed the importance of building national parks and called for joint efforts to implement the national park system.
Pointing out that the construction of national parks is a systemic project which is both challenging and complex, Zhen noted that the preliminary framework of China's national park system has been established and that lots of challenges are yet to be solved.
Zheng also called for top-level design in the construction of national park clusters and innovating China's national park system in a way that is both world-leading and fit for China's actual situation.
In addition, he highlighted the need to promote green development using the strategic opportunities arising from the country's efforts to peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
The team, consisting of members of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, visited Qilian and Gangca counties in Haibei Tibetan autonomous prefecture during the trip.
