The online reading initiative of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held an on-site event on July 6 to promote learning and education about the Communist Party of China (CPC) history.
Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the event and made a speech. Wang said the event represented an innovative way for CPPCC members to fulfill their duties and also showcased their understanding of CPC ideas.
In the event, the CPPCC members recited excerpts of important documents and classical writings in the Party's history, such as The Long March, a poem by Mao Zedong, Who are the Most Beloved People, an essay by author Wei Wei, and Key Points from Talks Given in Wuchang, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Shanghai by Deng Xiaoping. They also shared their thoughts in learning the Party's history.
More than 200 CPPCC members attended the event in Beijing in-person and parallel sessions in Hebei, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guizhou and Shaanxi.
The CPPCC National Committee initiated the nationwide reading activity last April.
