Yang Chuantang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to visit a revolutionary memorial site in the Fragrant Hills area of suburban Beijing on June 25, as one of the ways to study the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The leading Party members group of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee visited Shuangqing Villa, where Chairman Mao Zedong worked and lived, and other historical relics reminiscent of the history of how the CPC Central Committee moved into Beijing and used the Fragrant Hills as the headquarters in winning the War of Liberation (1946-49).

According to the CPPCC National Committee members in the visit, commemorating this part of history is to inherit the ethical standards of the older generation of revolutionaries, which include modesty, prudence, aversion to complacency and recklessness and a hardworking spirit, and to strengthen confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Inspired by the visit, the CPPCC National Committee members also said the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs will play a greater role in conducting research and consultations to contribute to the country's rural vitalization strategy.
