He Wei, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, emphasized the importance of green growth when attending the China Forum on International Ecological Competitiveness 2021 in Ganzhou, East China's Jiangxi province, on June 25.
He pointed out that this year marks the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, and that green growth is not only a major task in fostering a new development paradigm, but also is essential to meet people's growing needs for a good ecological environment.
In the next five years, he said, China will achieve remarkable outcomes in promoting green transformation in production and people's way of life and the emission of major pollutants will continue to decrease. China will also promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development and cope with climate change with practical measures under the guidance of the new development concept, he added.
The forum was sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the CPPCC National Committee, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the provincial government of Jiangxi.
More than 300 people including foreign diplomats attended the forum.
