Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended a workshop on cooperation and development between Shanghai and Hong Kong via video link on June 9.

More than 300 government officials, experts, entrepreneurs and representatives of social organizations from the two cities were present at the event where they discussed a range of topics including potential cooperation between the two sides in the construction of international hubs of finance, technological innovation and trade during China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

The attendees suggested that the two cities step up their efforts over the next five years to develop a modern economic system, deepen interconnectivity of capital markets, optimize allocation of shipping and air transportation resources, build a platform for economic and trade communication, expand the markets in Belt and Road countries, and promote their cultural, education and younger-generation exchanges.
