Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, recently called on all non-communist parties and personages without party affiliations to further multi-party cooperation led by the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Zheng, also executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, made the remarks at a forum on multi-party cooperation in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 8.

At the forum, Zheng said the "Red Boat Spirit", which highlights pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication, is the precious spiritual wealth of the Party and the common ideological foundation of CPC-led multi-party cooperation.

He urged all non-communist parties and personages without party affiliations to adhere to that spirit and revolutionary traditions in promoting multi-party cooperation.

In his written address to the forum, Gong Jianming, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, said he expected the attendees to do their parts to advance China's democratic political construction.

Yuan Sha, a member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-president of the Central Institute of Socialism, spoke highly of China's system of CPC-led multi-party cooperation in his speech at the forum, saying that China's new-type party system opened a fresh new path to democracy.

Zhou Shuzhen, a professor with the School of International Relations of Renmin University of China, made a keynote speech at the forum on the original intention of multi-party cooperation and the mission of the new-type party system.
