Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, listened to a report on the work of the expert consultation seminar of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at a meeting held in Beijing on June 4.
Wang, who is also the chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, stressed at the meeting that setting up the expert consultation seminar is a move that aims to strengthen and improve the CPPCC work, boost high-quality development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), and enhance the effectiveness and diversity of consultations.
He called for constantly improving the seminar so as to make better use of the strength of the CPPCC as a special consultative institution.
Since the launch of the seminar this March, the General Office and special committees of the CPPCC National Committee have, without any existing knowledge, explored the establishment of a work mode for the seminar that features the leading role of special committees and involvement of both CPPCC members and experts who carry out their work through surveys and consultations in person or via video link, Wang noted.
It is important to accurately grasp the seminar's positioning, Wang emphasized, calling for drawing on CPPCC members' diverse backgrounds and expertise for proactive research into major issues in order to offer insightful and sensible suggestions for the country's decisionmaking.
