With a focus on promoting the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, a research team of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, paid study visits to the island province from May 25 to 29.
Led by Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, the team visited the Yangpu Economic Development Zone Planning Exhibition Center, the enterprise Sinopec Hainan Refining and Chemical, a resort software community, and a pilot zone of international education innovation located in Li'an town. During the visits, the team had extensive exchanges with local officials, teachers, company employees and residents, and also held meetings to listen to reports about the free trade port initiative.
Gao said Hainan has already made steady progress in the construction of its free trade port and introduced a series of measures to bring the reform and opening-up to a new height. He said it's important to strengthen integrated institutional innovation and properly address different concerns in advancing this development strategy, such as the relationship between development and environmental protection and between current priorities and long-term objectives.
