Liu Xincheng, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, held a video conference with Luc Oyoubi, first vice-president of the Senate of the Gabonese Republic, in Beijing on May 25. 

Liu pointed out that the development of the bilateral relationship between China and Gabon has been in the fast lane since the establishment of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries in 2016. 

He said that the CPPCC National Committee is willing to strengthen its ties with the Senate of Gabon, in order to ensure effective implementation of the consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote reciprocal bilateral cooperation. 

He also gave Oyoubi an introduction to China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the CPPCC National Committee. 

Noting that Gabon sees China as its preferential strategic partner for the implementation of its "Emerging Gabon" strategy, Oyoubi said that Gabon is willing to actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road.

The Senate of Gabon also expects to enhance communication with the CPPCC National Committee, he added.
