Wang Yongqing, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey of the protection of couriers' rights and the development of the express delivery and takeout food delivery industries from May 17 to 20 in East China's Fujian province.
The survey team led by Wang visited express delivery and takeout food delivery enterprises, e-commerce platforms, warehousing centers and delivery stations and community-based courier stations during the trip, talking face-to-face with more than 90 managers and couriers. They also held meetings with relevant authorities and trade associations to seek suggestions.
Wang commended the provincial government of Fujian for prioritizing couriers' rights and interests and for gaining valuable experience in setting up special institutions and trade associations to solve many problems.
He called for greater care for couriers as the protection of their rights and interests is in the public interest. Therefore, he urged the establishment of a rights protection mechanism that can help couriers tackle common problems related to work-related injury insurance, safety and health, work times and vacations.
