Bater, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey of the protection and development of ethnic villages in North China's Hebei province from May 18 to 20.

During his visit to several villages in the province, Bater called for efforts to turn ethnic villages into effective carriers that inherit Chinese culture and enhance the solidarity of the Chinese nation.

They should also be important resources that promote the modernization and common prosperity of all ethnic groups, he said.

He also called for strengthening guidance of the CPPCC National Committee for local CPPCC committees and communication between the two sides in order to improve the CPPCC's overall performance.
