Chen Xiaoguang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, visited Northwest China's Gansu province from April 27 to 29 in order to explore the establishment and improvement of a mechanism supporting low-income rural populations and underdeveloped regions.

The survey team, made up of members of the CPPCC National Committee's Committee on Social and Legal Affairs, went to several villages in Lanzhou, Dingxi and Linxia, where they visited rural cooperatives, e-commerce incubation parks, local leading enterprises, settlements for relocated villagers and medical stations. They learned about local circumstances through conversations with primary-level officials and residents.

Chen, also executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, fully acknowledged the remarkable achievements that Gansu has made in eliminating poverty, saying China’s complete victory over poverty manifests the country's political advantages of the CPC's leadership and its socialist system.

Pointing out that efforts are still needed to address issues like imbalances in development and the economic gaps between urban and rural areas, he said that the mechanism supporting low-income rural population and underdeveloped regions will facilitate the development of those regions which have eradicated poverty, and help with the realization of rural vitalization.
