Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey of the handling of a key proposal on care services for the elderly in military families in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province from April 22 to 25.
Emphasizing the importance of providing good elder care for military families, Zhang said the work is essential for inheriting and carrying forward the fine tradition of strengthening the unity between the military and the people in the new era, synchronizing the development of China's national defense with its economic growth and implementing the national strategy for tackling an aging society.
During their trip, the survey team visited veteran service centers, hospitals and families of military personnel on active service in Daqing and Mudanjiang. They also met with the provincial government of Heilongjiang to gather relevant information.
