Chen Xiaoguang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey of the establishment and improvement of a mechanism supporting rural low-income population and underdeveloped regions in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from April 20 to 23.

The survey team visited rural primary schools, poverty relief workshops, demonstration zones for eliminating poverty through agricultural and forestry industries, settlements for relocated villagers and breeding centers, and communicated with primary-level officials and rural residents.

Fully recognizing the tremendous achievements Guangxi has made in eradicating poverty, Chen stressed that previous deeply-impoverished areas still face challenges in maintaining sustainable development and that consolidating the progress in eliminating poverty remains a tough task.

He called for promoting the development of rural low-income populations and underdeveloped regions with better top-level designs and more practical policies.
