Xia Baolong, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended and spoke at an online workshop on the teaching and promotion of the Chinese language in Russia on April 20.

Xia, who is also chairman of the Chinese side of the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (CRFCPD), said in his speech that the relationship between China and Russia has maintained high-level development, and served as a mainstay of this turbulent and changing world.

Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia, Xia called on both sides of the committee to strengthen their cooperation on education including language teaching so as to promote people-to-people communication and friendship between the two countries.

Boris Titov, chairman of the Russian side of the CRFCPD, pointed out in his address that development of the non-governmental exchange between the two countries enjoys sound momentum. 

He said the promising development of Chinese teaching and promotion in Russia creates more favorable conditions for the widening of the bilateral cooperation.
