A research team led by Liu Qibao, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Shanghai municipality and Shaanxi province from April 8 to 15 to promote the high-quality development of museums.
The research group of the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the CPPCC National Committee learned about the operation and development of revolutionary museums and memorials they visited, including the Memorial for the Site of the First National Congress of the CPC, the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, the Shaanxi History Museum and the Baoji Industrial Heritage Museum. These visits were a part of the campaign promoting Party history education.
Liu said museums are important venues for cultural heritage protection and restoration as well as bridges linking the past, present and future. He called for efforts to improve the management system, increase policy support and apply innovative technical means to cement museums' collection, exhibition, education and research functions.
The visits were also part of the preparations for the biweekly consultation session of the CPPCC National Committee to bolster the role of museums
