BEIJING -- Wang Yang, chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Wednesday called for efforts to promote the high-quality development of the united front work in the new era.
Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, addressed a seminar on studying and implementing the regulations on the united front work of the CPC in Beijing.
Wang stressed the comprehensive and accurate grasp of the spirit, main content and work requirements of the regulations which were made public in January after undergoing a revision in November last year.
Strengthening the leadership of the CPC should be taken as the fundamental principle for studying and implementing the regulations, said Wang.
He also highlighted the need to solve the deep-seated contradictions concerning the united front, build up the contingent of representatives from non-Communist parties, improve the competence of the united front departments, and make the united front work more scientific with better standards and institutions.
