Wan Gang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey of the formation of the new development paradigm featuring dual circulation in Southwest China's Yunnan province from March 30 to April 1.
The survey team visited the Houqiao border port, Heshun town, which is the preferred residential area of many returned overseas Chinese, Tengchong Pharmaceutical Company, the Dianxi Memorial Hall for the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, an ethnic village, the comprehensive service center of the Kunming Area of the China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the diesel engine maker Yunnei Power. At these locations they learned about the province's effort to raise its level of opening up and to integrate itself into national development strategies and the new development paradigm.
They also held talks with senior provincial officials.
Recognizing the progress Yunnan has made in conducting the aforementioned work, Wan emphasized that the province should draw on its geographical advantages to promote trade.
He called on Yunnan to further facilitate cross-border trade, improve its customs clearance efficiency and technological application at its border ports, digitalize border defense, and properly handle renminbi settlements.
He also suggested that Yunnan enhances its cooperation with countries in South and Southeast Asia, further integrates artificial intelligence and industrial internet into its industrial chains, studies the influence of the goal of realizing carbon emission peaking and carbon neutrality on its industrial development and reduces carbon emissions in all links of its industrial chain.
