Wang Yongqing, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey team to review social relief-related legislation in East China's Jiangsu province from March 21 to 24.
The survey team visited communities, relief centers, nursing homes for incapacitated people, child welfare offices and mental hospitals in Nanjing and Yangzhou in the province.
Praising Jiangsu for its constant efforts to improve its social relief system, Wang said that Jiangsu's valuable experience is important to the improvement of the national social relief system.
He emphasized the fundamental, long-standing and crucial role of social relief in ensuring people's basic livelihoods, promoting fairness and justice and safeguarding social stability. It is necessary to help people promptly solve problems and bring reasonable expectations for people in need, Wang said.
