Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a survey tour in East China's Jiangsu province from March 19 to 21.

The purpose of the tour was to examine the implementation of the spirit of the Central Conference on the CPPCC Work.

Zhang, also deputy secretary of the leading Party members’ group of the CPPCC National Committee, recognized the solid progress Jiangsu has made in implementing the spirit through theoretical study, Party building, improvement in the CPPCC work at city and county levels, consensus building, and team building for CPPCC members.

He called for greater effort in promoting Party building in the CPPCC, improving the CPPCC as a special consultation institution, advancing democratic supervision, strengthening ties between the CPPCC and the people, and organizing CPPCC members to learn Party history.

He also stressed the need to tackle the issue of the "two weaknesses" – in fundamental work and staffing – facing CPPCC committees at city and county levels, and to strengthen training and education of CPPCC members.
