A videoconference on the work of economic affairs committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) national and local committees was held in Beijing on Jan 12.
The attendees, including Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, studied the spirits of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Central Economic Work Conference, the Central Conference on CPPCC Work and the conference on the work of the special committees of the CPPCC National Committee.
They spoke about the practice and experiences in implementing and acting on the spirits of the conferences in the hopes of improving their work with clearer goals and more targeted measures.
In his speech, Gao called on CPPCC members to contribute to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives through the Year 2035 through better planning, better fulfillment of their duties, and self-improvement.
He also urged research into key economic affairs and the formation of innovative theories, as well as thematic surveys on major issues in economic development. He added that he looked forward to CPPCC members' research findings which are to be obtained in implementing the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee.
Also at the meeting, Shang Fulin, chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, briefed the attendees on the Committee on Economic Affairs' efforts in implementing the spirits of the Central Conference on CPPCC Work and the conference on the work of the special committees of the CPPCC National Committee.
