Li Bin, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was elected as president of the third Council of the CPPCC Theory Research Association at its second meeting on Dec 7. 

The meeting was focused on studying the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and deepening research into CPPCC theory and practice. It also passed the association’s work rules and a four-year research planning (2020-24). 

In her speech Li conveyed the instructions of Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, regarding theoretical studies. 

Li, who is also secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, called for more efforts to strengthen research and to provide solid theoretical answers to issues key to the development of the CPPCC in ways that give full play to the CPPCC's consultative roles and contribute to fully building a modern socialist China.
